DNA Traceback® Consumer Brochure
The DNA TraceBack® seal on Nature’s Premium pork in the meat case is an absolute guarantee that our product is what it claims to be and that it can be reliably traced back to its farm of origin. All Nature’s Premium Brand 100% natural, superior quality, antibiotic-free (ABF) pork meets this standard, which is widely recognized in Europe as a mark of quality.

Breakthrough partnership benefits all.
The DNA TraceBack system was developed more than a decade ago by IdentiGEN, the most respected provider of DNA-based solutions to the agri-food industry with major operations in Ireland and the U.S.
Nature’s Premium hearty Duroc pigs are raised by family farmers in the Midwest on a strict vegetarian diet with no animal byproducts. Animals are never given antibiotics or growth promotants and because of Nature’s Premium’s high standard of care, sanitation and hygiene, no pesticides are ever used.
“Simply put, this program equates to trust,” said Nature's Premium Brand founder and CEO John D. Stewart. “We take samples of the actual DNA of every animal in the program to assure that we are delivering the premium quality assurances customers expect.”
A thriving tool for the all-natural meat market
For grocery stores and restaurants, the Nature’s Premium DNA TraceBack program means you can buy Nature’s Premium Brand pork with absolute confidence, knowing that if there is any question about the product, it can be reliably traced back to its origins.
Boyd Oase, Meat and Seafood Director at Kowalski’s Markets put it this way. “From a food safety standpoint, it’s extremely valuable to my department. And for my customers, it’s 100% reassurance that this is a safe, wholesome, all-natural product.”
The IdentiGEN DNA breakthrough
IdentiGEN was founded in 1996 as a spin-off from the highly esteemed Institute of Genetics, Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where its genetic identification methodology was developed. IdentiGEN's system is already in widespread use by major European grocery store chains, including Tesco and Superquinn.
IdentiGEN achieved a major milestone in the US market in October 2007 when its DNA TraceBack system was named as one of only 36 USDA Process Verified Programs. PVP designation signifies that the USDA has verified the IdentiGEN system as a consistently reliable program in which meat processors, meat producers, retailers and consumers can have confidence.
"DNA is a uniquely accurate, permanent and tamper–proof identification tool," said IdentiGEN CEO and President Donald R. Marvin. "Because it uses nature's bar-code — the unique DNA of every animal — DNA TraceBack is the ultimate proof of product integrity."
